Village twinning

2011 is the second year of the village twinning between the Huckows and Parisot, a small village in Tarn-et-Garonne in south-west France. Gillian is a committee member for the Twinning Association and Martin represents the Parish Council at Twinning Association activities.

We visit the other village in alternate years, and this year 13 French people came to our village (12 English went to Parisot last year....). We already knew about half of them, so the visit felt more relaxed than previous visits. Two ladies stayed with us who had never been to England before. Martin gave a speech in French at the end of the visit - thanks to the people who wrote the English version and translated it into French.

During the visit, we all ate together at two of the local stone-built pubs (the Queen Anne and the Barrel Inn), went to Bakewell market and Chatsworth, and hosted dinner parties for small groups on the last evening. We also had our first joint English-French committee meeting, chaired by the Mayor of Parisot, and discussed future activities.
